- Which issue, question, or controversy related to your subculture do you find most interesting or worthy of exploration for this project? Why?
I find the question “Is being in a gang all about money, cars, clothes, and women/men?” most interesting. I find it interesting because most people think that’s what being in a gang is all about and when you think of a gang you think of flashy cars, lots of money, expensive clothes and hooking up with the finest women/men.
- What is message do you want to convey with your visual image? Do you want to present new information (informative), change the viewers’ attitudes, beliefs, or behaviors (persuasive), or simply present a new way of looking at an issue for the subculture (argument)?
I want to convey in my image that there is a choice to be made in wanting to be in a gang and that the choice is to be street successful or life successful. I want to be persuasive with my image.
- Who is your intended audience for the visual argument that you will create?
The intended audience is young kids who are on the fence about making the choice to join a gang or not.
- What does your intended audience value, and how will that knowledge influence the way you construct your argument?
The intended audience values being accepted into a group of people and wants to get in where they fit in.
- What kind of appeals (ethos, pathos, and logos) will you use to reach this audience? Why?
Pathos because using specific and personal experiences will help them to better relate to the situation and to make the right choice.
- How will you convey the appeals that you want to emphasize using a visual (rather than merely written) text?
Have the two choices with a person in the middle questioning which one they want to choose.
